Serpula vermicularis (tube worm) Found in areas 6 to 9 on large rocks. The tube worm grows twisted and coiled upon itself on the lower part of large rocks on the south part of the beach. There is a bright red operculum (trap door that can be closed when the tube worm is out of water). When the operculum is open, the tube worm opening looks like a scarlet flower has been put in a bud vase under water. |
