Pugettia productus (kelp crab)

Found in areas 5 to 9 to 10, mostly 9 to 10.

Kelp crabs appear occasionally at the Cove most often at minus tides and then in or near the eelgrass. Sometimes they appear on the sand at the south part of the beach. They live on kelp and pilings.

It is not a good idea to pick them up. They can use their pinchers to draw blood.
