Panopea generosa or Panopea abrupta (geoduck)

Found in area 4.

The Nisqualli First Nation meaning for geoduck (pronounced gooey-duck) is “dig deep.” They can live for almost 150 years. The maximum weight recorded is just over 7 pounds. They live about 3 feet down when mature. The sight of one of these is amazing. (See Tresus nuttallii for a comparison of the 4 large clams at the Cove.)
