Pagurus granosimanus (small hermit crab or grainy hand hermit) Found in areas 5 to 10. Pagurus granosimanus is not hairy. It is the smallest Puget Sound hermit crab that inhabits the beach. It can be found in cast off Littorina shells. Occasionally they become too large for those shells so they graduate to Nucella shells. The larger shells allow them to become completely enclosed. The large shell is Pagurus hirsutiusculus. |
