Cancer productus (red rock crab)

Found in areas 4 to 5 to 10.

The best time to spot Cancer productus is during a minus tide. They are beyond the mussel beds hunkered down in sand or crawling in the eelgrass. They look very much like Cancer magister except this species has black tipped pinchers. The young of this species are often red and white striped.
