Ardea hrodias (great blue heron)

Found in entire area.

The great blue heron has been a resident at the Cove for a long time. You can see them wading at the edge of the water almost anytime during daylight hours. You may also find them wading in the duck pond at the Cove, perched in trees (now that’s a funny looking sight), and even once I saw one standing in the middle of the road near First Ave.
